2016 ended with a bang, I finished off the year with a New Years Eve wedding in Hauula. The start of 2017 was also a fun one with a Waimanalo Bay Beach Elopement. Brittani and Nathan called me one evening and said they were flying out to Hawaii to get married in two days. They originally were planning a big wedding but decided the stress of it all wasn’t worth it. After their ceremony on Waimanalo Beach we did the marriage certificate, a little apple cider toast, and took some portraits which ended up with a trash the dress hoping in the ocean. These pictures really capture being stress free, I love when my couples are sporadic and fun. Congrats Brittani and Nathan!
Hawaii’s weather can turn at anytime so for any type of photo-shoot you need to be prepared and just go with the flow. If the weather man says there is a chance of rain sometimes it doesn’t ever rain, if he says it’s going to be sunny it’ll rain. You can never trust the weather forecast in Hawaii. This shoot was done in Waikiki at Kahanamoku Beach near the Hilton Hawaiian Village Lagoon. The weather there is typically really nice but sometimes those mountain clouds make it to the coast and we get a bit wet. During this session I think it lightly sprinkled for about 10 minutes. Normally if you wait it out it will last no longer.
Check out this fun and outgoing engagement session shot in Kakaako.
Lavina and Brian had their first look, ceremony, and reception and the Ko’olau Ballrooms Conference Center. Beautiful moments were captured, please take a look.
Carrie and Rey traveled to Hawaii for their destination wedding and had a small group of family and friends come along. Their wedding was held at Paradise Cove and they had the reception at Roy’s in Koolina. Check below for some imagery from this gorgeous wedding.
Check out Angie’s story below on how Tom proposed to her. Also please check out the Waikiki wedding photos that took place on Kahanamoku Beach.
I met Tom through my dad. Tom was working for my dad at the time- My dad talked me into driving home from college one weekend to come over for supper. when I arrived home there was a strange man there. I ignored him, wondering what he was doing there for supper! After we ate I was in the basement with my sister while my dad and Tom were upstairs. My dad kept texting me that Tom wanted to take me out for a drink, of course I kept saying no- I didn’t even know him! Finally after my dads constant texts I came upstairs and looked at Tom like “okay lets go then” He had no idea what I was talking about. We ended up going out for a drink and as we talked we realized that my dad had told me that Tom wanted to take me out while at the same time he was telling Tom that I wanted him to take me out! He tricked us both, but it worked
Tom and I dated for over 7 years before we were engaged. We were only engaged for a short time- 1 month! We had already planned a trip with his boss to go to Hawaii so we thought what better place to get married. We had nothing planned and no wedding attire when we got to Hawaii but figured if we could find someone to marry us in that short of notice we would make it work.
When Tom finally proposed, I had been out Christmas shopping with my mom and sisters and when I came home, exhausted, Tom was standing in the kitchen and our big 115lb lab, Bubba, was in the house (my dog is my favorite thing in the whole world!!!) and waits at the top of the stairs for me until I get home. when I came in the door Bubba was of course waiting for me, when he stood up I saw something tied to his collar. I took it off and realized it was a ring box. I couldn’t believe it- after all these years I had given up on the thought of even getting married! I opened the box and Tom came over, got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife.
The day after Brittany and Jaz’s Indian Wedding at Mid Pac Country Club was their Wedding Ceremony. The ceremony took place at the same location in Lanikai at the Mid Pac Country Club. It was a beautiful day!
Brittany and Jaz had an Indian Ceremony at Mid Pac Country Club and the next day following this ceremony they had their wedding. Both held at Mid Pac Country Club a few days after Christmas this past year December 2015. It was a beautiful day full of love, laughter, and tons of color. The bride wore a gorgeous Indian Sari wedding dress, along with the bridesmaids, and guests.
Check out my next post to follow to view their wedding day!

This Kahanamoku Beach surprise engagement took place in Waikiki. The fiancé hired me to take photos of the two on a romantic beach walk starting at the Outrigger Hotel where we met and we took a stroll along the beach taking photos on our walk to Kahanamoku Beach. Once we reached Kahanamoku Beach the fiancé had a signal letting me know he would be ready to drop down on a knee and ask her the question, “Will you marry me….?”
This is a fun unique way to surprise your fiancé while also capturing the moment that will last a lifetime through photographs.
It was the day after Christmas and I had a wedding at Secret Island in Kaneohe Bay. I arrived at the Heia Pier in Kaneohe Bay, and thought OH NO, it is raining. I was prepared with my water bag but no raincoat. Yikes! I knew I was going to freeze even in Hawaii. YES, we do get cold….
The boat was at the dock ready to launch and once the minister arrived and couple we made our way to the boat once the rain let off. We were less then five minutes away from the dock and it just started dumping. Luckily I had the coolest couple ever to photograph and very easy going family as well as Captain and minister! We went with it and got some fun shots in the rainy weather.
Once we hit shore at Secret Island in near Kualoa Ranch we got off the boat and it stopped raining. We had time to finish the romantic ceremony, get family photos, as well as do some portraits of the couple. We then climbed back into the boat and made our way to the Kaneohe SandBar and captured a beautiful rainbow on our way back to the dock!
I highly recommend a simple and laid back wedding like this for any of you couples that are willing to go on adventure. You will definitely remember every moment of your wedding day!
If you look at the previous blog from yesterday, this is a continuation of it. Maui is a gorgeous spot for visitors, honeymooners, and destination weddings. This couple brought their whole family to the islands and had a quaint destination wedding in Lahaina, Maui. The ceremony took place in the BNB they rented in Lahaina in the backyard overlooking the hues of the blue Pacific Ocean, sailboats, and mountain range. Maui is a top destination wedding spot.
I recently went to Maui and photographed this beautiful destination wedding. The wedding ceremony and reception details were so vivid and unique. I fell in love with the pineapple table settings and the tropical hot pink plumerias that were used throughout the venue.
Wedding details can range in so many different themes, colors, settings, and any place imagined. Let your creativity explore and come up with your own distinct destination wedding.
I had the pleasure of photographing Cris and Ben who traveled all of the way from Australia to get hitched. The venue took place at Lanikuhonua in Koolina located on the west side of Oahu. Makeup was done by Whik’d Hair and Makeup Hawaii and the wedding coordination was with Gina at Perfection International.
I am dying over this couple and all of the wedding details that went into this wedding. The day was absolutely gorgeous and to top it off I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful bride and groom. The details included a stacked cheese cake topped with white roses, pineapple bowling, an enormous LOVE sign, and a huge polaroid for photos.
Jacqui and Rob contacted me wanting to do a photo session for their recent engagement. They wanted something other than the traditional beach photos that are very popular in Hawaii. So I mentioned a few places and one I highly recommended was Likeke Falls. There are so many lush areas and natural props along the hike that it makes for a gorgeous backdrop as well as many different settings. The hike is only a 30 minute stroll up to the falls and is very easy.
We managed to get some timeless photos with and without their dogs, something they will cherish for a lifetime. Congrats to Jacqui and Rob!!!!
